Experience the hidden past of the Arcen Estate

Discover the rich history of the castle and the castle gardens!

National Park the Maasduinen is rich in a number of beautiful castles due to its location by the Maas River. Each one is an impressive structure with a glorious past. Although some were unfortunately destroyed during World War II, Castle Arcen still stands proudly. The castle was once the heart of the large and impressive Arcen Estate. This estate had beautiful ornamental gardens with long avenues and lovely views. You can still admire those gardens today in the Castle Gardens Arcen. Many traces are still present in the nearby nature reserve, such as an old ice cellar that the lords of the castle had built in the past and an actual maze. Join the guide and be taken back to the heyday of the Arcen Estate.

National Park De Maasduinen is a collaboration of local residents, IVN Limburg, the municipalities of Bergen and Gennep, Staatsbosbeheer, and The Limburg Landscape.
