Discover nature along the Maas at Blerick

Until a few years ago, the Maas resembled more of a shipping canal than a real river. Due to much human intervention, there was little nature left along the banks. Meanwhile, new nature has been restored in many places through the Maascorridor project. This project also addresses the high water issue. The river is given more space, transforming the Maas banks into a varied and elongated ribbon of marshes, channels, flower-rich grasslands, thickets, and floodplain forests. You might also encounter cattle. Observe them from a safe distance, as they are definitely not petting zoo animals!
