How do I register with the municipality?
If you move to Venlo, you must report this no more than 4 weeks before or no later than 5 days after your moving date.
If you have a DigiD, you can easily report your move on the website of the municipality of Venlo. If you prefer to do it in person, you can go to the City Office. However, you need to make an appointment on the municipality's website.
Please note, if you do not yet have a Dutch Citizen Service Number, you must bring the following documents:
- Original version of your birth certificate
- A copy of the birth certificate with an apostille stamp
- A translation of the birth certificate, if the original document is not in English, Dutch, French, or German. This translation must be done by a certified translation agency.
- Original proof of civil status (you must prove that you are not married with an official document. It varies by country where such documents are available, but you can always call the embassy of your country.)
- A copy of civil status with an apostille stamp
- If the civil status is not in English, Dutch, French, or German, you must bring a translation. This translation must be done by a certified translation agency.
- Valid passport or ID
- Admission confirmation from your education (acceptance letter)
- If applicable: The positive assessment from the Dutch Immigration Service (a letter in Dutch, sent to you via the online visa application program Visacare after your visa application has been approved)
- Signed rental contract for your accommodation in Venlo
Make sure you have everything in order beforehand. Think of copies of the documents. You must submit these copies at the City Office. The original documents will be returned at the end of the appointment.
