Three depictions of old Venlo cityscapes painted with acrylic paint. The project was created in collaboration with Venlo Partners. The historical images were intended to make the facades more attractive and help prevent unwanted graffiti.
Location: Nieuwstraat, Venlo

A historical facade painting of the former Klaaskerk. This church was destroyed by fire after a bombing in November 1944. Janssen conducted historical research before reconstructing the old situation on the facade.
Location: Kruisherenstraat, Venlo

A cinematic dreamscape where the history of Venlo and contemporary city life come together. Central to the scene is a pikeman, surrounded by mythical creatures, festive figures, a skater, and modern neon-like texts. The green flow through the image refers to the Grote Beick, which used to run at this location.
The words One Love connect the different scenes and refer to the love and pride of the people of Venlo for their city. The illogical perspective, unusual proportions, and surprising use of color give the work the character of a dream.
Location: Picardie, Venlo

A mural created as part of Venlo Poëziet, an initiative that makes visual art and poetry visible in public spaces.
The Goossens Gate used to provide access to the Goossens site: stonemasonry/coal trade. Next to it used to be the Arsenal, a weapon magazine of the Minderbroeders barracks, located within the fortifications of Venlo behind the former castle: De Loohof. It was located near the Minderbroeders church.
In this historic gate, the words of Jaap Robben are well represented. Artist Gies Backes has drawn, faintly emerging on this wall, the people who lived here, but whose names we no longer know.
Location: Parade, Venlo

An approximately fifteen-meter-high reproduction of a famous painting by the Venlo artist Evert Thielen. Michel Alders created the work commissioned by the municipality of Venlo on the occasion of Thielen's retrospective exhibition at the Museum van Bommel van Dam.
Location: Lohofstraat, Venlo

A poetic reflection on coffee culture. Due to industrialization, coffee became accessible to more and more people, and the coffee break emerged: a brief moment of rest and encounter.
The work is constructed as a fragmentary collage of coffee pots, cups with saucers, and hourglasses. These symbols represent time, enjoyment, and transience. The artist calls his method visual sampling: a visual translation of sampling from hip-hop culture.
Location: Nolensgarage Entrance

An approximately ninety-meter-long painting about the relationship between Venlo and the Maas. The work depicts, among other things, shipping, the industrial past, tourism, high water, and the legend of Truuj Bolwater. On one side, the ongoing threat of the water is evident; on the other side, the relaxed atmosphere along the river is central.
Location: Lage Loswal, Venlo

The first large graffiti mural in the public space of Venlo. The Maaspoort and Grenswerk wanted to transform the bare back wall into a piece of art that represents the versatility of both venues. The composition contains various figures and references to music, theater, sports, and other performing arts. Thus, the work forms a visual connection between the two cultural institutions.
Location: Peperstraat, Venlo

Part of the project Inner Peace World Freedom, which used public art to draw attention to inner peace and world freedom. The ballet dancers symbolize grace, concentration, and harmony between body and mind. The choice also aligns with the nearby ballet school.
Location: Hoogstraat, Venlo
