Gwen en Najenna

When they were younger, they always celebrated Carnival together in their own village: Lomm. There have been some interruptions due to skiing vacations. However, Gwen and Najenna enjoyed Carnival so much that they couldn't skip it anymore. Ever since the two sisters were in high school, they have been celebrating Carnival in Venlo. They quickly noticed that they found the atmosphere and the coziness in Venlo much more enjoyable. "Every day here has its own charm," says Gwen.

Every year, these two come up with new crazy outfits that match each other. And by crazy, they mean the wildest prints and the brightest colors. All animal prints come into play here. To complete the outfit, their faces are painted in those same prints and colors. What Najenna always looks forward to is Gekke Maondaag in Velden. There are always many friends and acquaintances with whom they can have a fun day. Besides this day, they enjoy the Boètezitting in Venlo the most. During the day, they can be found at the Parade, and in the evening, they dive into the pubs. Here, they continue enjoying Carnival until the late hours. They love the atmosphere throughout the city and go from stage to stage, but often end up back at the Parade. "It's just pure fun!" says Gwen.

During Carnival, they want to have a good time with their girlfriends, sing along to the well-known songs, dance a lot, 'drink!' and above all, let loose. 

Before the carnival can really begin for Najenna, she gathers inspiration from Pinterest and TikTok to uncover the latest trends in face painting. Najenna is very creative and loves to unleash this creativity during the carnival by painting others and herself. Even when it takes her a lot of time, she is ready for her sister and friends to make them look as beautiful as possible. “Drawing and doodling is just a lot of fun!”

They are not only sisters but also best friends. “Just don’t worry about what others think, be yourself and enjoy, that’s carnival for us!”
