Kaela Peeters

Although Kaela Peeters is only 19, she has long celebrated her 1x11 anniversary with C.V. de Belhamels. "There is a video of me where I - 3 years old - am watching the 'dance girls' and telling my mother that I 'want to do that when I'm old, mom'.

Belfeld celebrates Carnival.

In group 2 I was the 'bruudje', in group 7 I was part of the 'Raod van Elf' of the KOW and in high school, I was involved in the youth carnival and later as a leader for the youth. And now together with my best friend Aranka, I'm a 'dansmaedje'!"

"We don't call ourselves 'dansmarietje', maybe because we also have a different role than in other villages. We don't choreograph dances, but we make sure that the prince is taken care of. I absolutely can't dance, so I'm quite happy about that," she laughs. "We first had to do an internship. There are quite a few rules. I knew that, of course, but not that there were so many! Many protocols never occurred to me at first, like that we always have the 'handsschoon' on and only the 'dansmaedjes' can carry the prince's scepter and feathers."

"Vastelaovend in Belfeld is just a lot of fun. We have fixed parties, so you know what and when it's going to be enjoyable. Such a Sunday, with the parade and in the evening one big party where everyone is present, friends and family. I do see my friends going to Venlo, but on Sunday they all come back to Belfeld!"
