Shoproute | Festina Lente Streets
The Venlo motto, Festina Lente, is the inspiration for the name of these Venlo streets. The meaning is characteristic of the local passionate entrepreneurs: "Make haste slowly, do everything with your mind."

Follow our special shopping route and be surprised by the variety of authentic shops, unique store concepts, and charming dining establishments.
START The Romerhuis – Jodenstraat Venlo
END Klaasstraat
DURATION As long as you want, Festina Lente!

The Romer House (1) is a true showstopper. The building owes its name to the influential Romer family and is the oldest building in Venlo after the town hall. The half-timbered façade of the rear house possibly dates back to the 14th century! Order a coffee with a delicious chocolate and look out over the Kwartelenmarkt (2), a historic square with a lunchroom, cocktail bar, and restaurants, each of which is fantastic.
Stroll through the Jodenstraat and visit special shops like Beads’nBobbles, Versierhoés van der Veer and Annamoon. Eethuis Tante Toer is a household name in Venlo, and Brownies&DownieS is also worth a visit. The Jodenstraat is also a paradise for children (and shopping parents) with ’t Holtschöpke and Klein Duumpke.
Walk via the Oude Markt (3) with its cozy terraces past Theater De Maaspoort (4) through the Houtstraat towards the Markt. Admire the medieval Town Hall (5), an eye-catcher, in the middle of the city and one of the nicest hospitality squares in Venlo.
The Gasthuisstraat has many achievements. It is the most medieval street in the Netherlands, the most hospitable street in Venlo, and only independent entrepreneurs have an array of specialty shops. From Lekker Ruiken to Pinok, from LDHModa to Van Heyster Shoe Fashion, an English shop and even a natural butcher!
Walk past the beautiful, small St. Joriskerk (6) and carefully cross Venlo's busiest cyclist intersection at Café De Locomotief.
Parade over the Parade and let yourself be carried away by the sounds of the music mecca located at the head of the Klaasstraat: Sounds. A coffee at Milk & Cookies or a beer at music café Take Five further down you can choose; do you deviate into the Floddergats (7) with Venlo's well-hidden special hospitality spots or do you continue into Klaasstraat, with all its special specialty shops?
What about Elleke, a hip interior shop with Scandinavian influences, XIE Eyewear that will gladly fit you with a stylish and modern pair of glasses, and Boekhandel Koops, where you can lose yourself in the most beautiful books (and where the Tourist Information Point (8) is hidden!). Fashion stores like Carrièra, Rémy, Pure Boho, and Brekelmans Shoes should definitely not be missed. The end of the Festina Lente shopping route doesn't mean the end of your unforgettable day in Venlo. On the contrary, indulge yourself at Vijg & Olijf and enjoy all your purchases and especially a fun day in Venlo for a long time at home!
