"I ended up in Arcen because of corona. I didn't get a permanent contract at my previous job. Then I started working at Alt Arce. In Arcen, there is basically one pub, and by going with colleagues, I found my way in Arcen. I've met a lot of new people. It's really 'everyone knows everyone,' everyone does everything for each other. Although I expected that, it still surprised me," she laughs in wonder. "I thought I would be looked at as a 'city person,' but nothing was further from the truth. I was warmly welcomed instead."

"I've been living in Arcen for a year now, even above Alt Arce. Coincidentally, I also lived on the Maasboulevard in Venlo. So, the Maas is never far away. It's a grateful topic of conversation. With the rain recently, I often get asked if the Maas is already high. Others are more concerned with the Maas than I am. Not that I don't notice it anymore, though. On a sunny day, I'm also amazed by such a view. Then we open everything in the conservatory, and it becomes one large sunny terrace with a view of the Maas."

"I notice that with the guests we receive at Alt Arce. They don't expect it to be such a large building and terrace when they walk in from the street side. When they walk in, I almost only hear how beautiful they find it. That's what makes my job so fun, that I can ensure with my colleagues that they have a very nice day. I mean, they can get a cup of coffee at home too, but that we can give them that experience, I find very special."

"I work in the service. Now with the Sfeermarkt, it's really running then. When I get home in the evening, I think, phew, that was a nice day. Although that's also because we then rush into the pub, of course. Thursdays are very tough," she laughs. "I notice that the longer I work here, the more you become family with everyone. It's literally and figuratively a family business. We have a large team, but we all work together to make it a good day. I personally find that very nice. I've never worked in such a 'small' company before, I was always just a number, and I don't have that here. Here, I have a name."
