Stijn Meerts
Within this year's Boerebroelofsgezelschap, Stijn Meerts from the Herfshane has a special task; as a messenger, he carries the marriage certificate in his briefcase. "But for now, it's mainly pins and small items that I'm carrying," he laughs.

"The Herfshane encourage young people to write, compose, and sing songs. Last year, I participated in Opus Jocus Leedjesaovend with Bjorn, just because we thought: let's give it a try. To our surprise, we were allowed to join! That's how I ended up with the Herfshane."
“Vastelaovend for me is being together with the people around you and living purely in the moment. I know everyone says this, but vastelaovend was truly instilled in me from a young age. Or better yet, I was literally born for it. My mother was due right before the Boerebroélof. They immediately decided that they would come to see me that year 'kiendje kwame kieke'. I was wheeled onto the stage in an old-fashioned pram, and I peacefully slept in the arms of the bride at that time."
"My father is a real association man. He was first an adjutant with the Törvers and later became a prince. I was still unne blaag but I still got a lot out of it. In the bolderker with dad's prince hat. That's how I remember vastelaovend, rauze in the Maaspoort and of course the Boerebroélof that we always celebrated with grandpa and grandma."
“A lot of time is currently going into the Boerebroélof. And I’m also busy with my internship; I just started in group 4 at St. Martinus school. Additionally, I’m also part of the content team. Together we come up with content for the Herfshane socials. Some videos have already reached over 10,000 views. That gives a lot of positive energy. Like a sort of modern messenger, yes," he laughs.
