
What is healthcare allowance and am I entitled to it?
The healthcare allowance is a financial contribution from the Dutch government for Dutch citizens with Dutch health insurance. It is a compensation to cover healthcare costs. Not everyone is eligible for a healthcare allowance. This depends on your income. The benefits are intended for people who would struggle without this support.
You are entitled to healthcare allowance if you:
- have a Dutch, European, national, or residence permit type I, II, or III. (If your residence permit has expired, you are only entitled if you have applied for an extension in time or if you were already receiving the healthcare allowance when your residence permit was still valid)
- You have Dutch health insurance (for more information about insurance click here)
18 years or older
- Your income must not be too high:
- Maximum € 28,720 per year.
- Partner benefit: combined income must not exceed € 35,996 per year.
- Your assets must not be too high:
- Maximum € 113,415 per year
- Partner benefit: combined assets must not exceed € 143,415,415.
To apply for a benefit, it is necessary to have a DigiD.
