Where you choose to study, sometimes matters just as much as what you choose for your study programme. Venlo is such a city! And to make it a bit easier for you, we have 10 reasons why studying in Venlo is the best choice for you.

Friday afternoon drinks (or as we like to say, vrijmibo)? Venlo has incredibly fun and cozy nightlife venues and terraces. Having a drink (or two) with your friends at Café de Galerie, Rhummery the rub or John Doe is definitely worth it. Because Venlo is a smaller city, it's a small world in the city center. Bet they'll know you by name in no time?

They say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. In Venlo, there is no shortage of love! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the choice is vast. Vegan, healthy, a greasy bite, or just fancy dining. In Venlo, there is no love sincerer than the love of food!

The Limburg hospitality cannot be missing from this list, of course. A beer cannot go without a 'bitterbal' (a deep fried breaded ragout ball and Dutch delicacy!), that glass of wine needs some cheese, and a night out always ends up differently than you had imagined. Everyone is welcome and will feel that way too! So, will you join us for a 'stökske flaai'?

We have a wide range of shops in Venlo. Clothing, shoes, beauty, or interior, there's something fun for everyone! You can go all out at Primark and H&M, but make sure to also check out the Festina Lente Straatjes where you'll also find very nice and unique shops and boutiques such as KUBANNA and Kuif Conceptstore.

Balance is key! In Venlo, we have beautiful parks where you can relax. You can enjoy a walk, workout or picknick in Julianapark and the Wilhelminapark. Do you prefer the open water for some peace and tranquility? Then you're in luck! At the Maashaven and the Lage Loswal, you will find just that.

Venlo is much more than just the city center, there is plenty to do in the surrounding area! For example, we have Taurus World of Adventure, Maashof, Mission Museum Steyl and many other things. In addition, there are also many events to visit in and around Venlo. Check our agenda for everything that's happening in Venlo!

The Netherlands is a cycling country! Here in Venlo, you will encounter many cyclists. Not a fan of cycling? The city is also easily accessible by train and bus, ideal! Additionally, the city is not very large, so everything within the city is within minimal walking distance.

In Venlo, there's various student associations. S.A. Da Vinci welcomes students from all courses and schools to become members. They organize fun parties, networking events, and other activities (without hazing!). For students of Maastricht University – Campus Venlo, there is I.S.A. Umami and BEET. Lastly, for Fontys International Marketing, there is the student association IMagine Fontys.

In Venlo, you can engage in physical activities in various ways. Play football with Venlose Boys, participate in the Venloop, join the rowing club WSV, get your workout in during bootcamp at La Vita Sana, pick up that hockey stick at Hockey Club Delta Venlo, work on your dance skills at Urban Dance Studio, or hit the ball at tennis club TC Venlo.

It all begins in 1993 in the Amsterdam Soul Kitchen, where Benjamin Herman and DJ Graham B take the stage together. While Graham B spins records, Benjamin plays. A unique combination. Eventually, this leads to the eight-piece New Cool Collective, with which the band has played countless times in leading clubs and festivals around the world, either in the regular 8-piece lineup or as a 19-piece big band. Additionally, New Cool Collective previously collaborated with the likes of Tony Allen, Mapacha Africa, Andrew Roachford, Jules Deelder, Typhoon, Guus Meeuwis, Matt Bianco, Thierno Koité, and Georgie Fame. Meanwhile, the creative engine is running at full throttle; the passion undiminished, and New Cool Collective is working on new material. Keep an eye out! As always, the focus will be on the dance floor. The motto remains unchanged: “Get the people moving” — both physically and mentally.
