Mooder Maas

In July 2022, the 90-meter-long mural 'Mooder Maas' was unveiled at the Lage Loswal in Venlo, designed by Joren Joshua. The mural highlights the Maas River and depicts the industrial past with ships and the legend Truuj Bolwater. The typographic section warns of high water.

The right side reflects the relaxed atmosphere of Venlo, with visitors enjoying pie and looking out over the Maas, while cruise ships dock. The dynamic design and warm colors create a sense of movement and invite personal interpretation of Venlo's story.

Mural Maaspoort

In 2021, the back of the De Maaspoort theater was brightened up with a street art project initiated by graffiti artists. The artwork, visible since November of that year, received enthusiastic reactions from the directors of De Maaspoort and the Grenswerk pop venue. The idea arose spontaneously when graffiti artist Vincent Huibers and Tim Gaal (director of Grenswerk) noticed the gray wall. The artwork, which depicts figures such as a singer and an athlete, is intended to appeal to a younger audience and visually emphasize the connection between De Maaspoort and Grenswerk.

Mural One Love

The Picardie street received a significant makeover with the arrival of the CityCinema, but the bare facade remained a disturbing element. Giel Backes changed this with his mural. This mural, One Love, combines history and modernity and invites the use of imagination. One Love, night is for dreaming unites historical and contemporary elements, such as the Pikeman and fairy-tale animals. The neon texts refer to 'vastelaovend' and modern Venlo, while the story raises questions about danger and strength. With a dynamic, colorful composition, Backes wants to immerse viewers in this dreamy world and invite them to give their own interpretations.

Mural Begijnengang

In 2008, artist Ger Janssen worked intensively on a mural of the old church on a facade in Kruisherenstraat. This church was completely destroyed after a bombing in November 1944. Before Janssen started with the painting, he conducted thorough historical research. The facade art in Kruisherenstraat began as part of a street-by-street initiative aimed at giving the center of Venlo a new appearance.
