Dubbelkerk Steyl

A visit to the Kloosterdorp Steyl is incomplete without seeing the remarkable double church. Two churches stacked on top of each other in different styles.

The Lower Church is used as a prayer space for the monastic community and guests. The artist Will Horsten from Kevelaer gave the lower church its own distinctive character in 1972.

The Upper Church is only accessible through the Mission House; a space with beautiful light. Its neo-Gothic interior is almost completely preserved. Here lies the sarcophagus containing the body of Saint Arnold Janssen.
